How Foundry uses AI to augment your decision-making
By the end of this module
AI as a Second Opinion, Not a Replacement
Foundry's AI features don't make decisions for you. They surface what you might have missed, blind spots in your reasoning, criteria you scored on instinct, patterns across your week.
All AI features require the Pro plan ($25/mo). They use Claude by Anthropic under the hood. Your data stays within your workspace and is not used to train models.
AI Triage Scoring
On any idea in the triage scoring panel, click the AI Score button (purple, bottom-left). The AI reads your idea's title, description, and capture type, then suggests scores across all 16 criteria.
How to use it: AI scores are a starting point, not a verdict. Review each score the AI suggested and adjust where you disagree. The AI doesn't know your business context, you do. Use it to catch criteria you might have glossed over.
Limits: 100 AI triage scores per month.
AI Decision Review
On any decision detail page, click the AI Review button. The AI analyzes your decision's title, reasoning, alternatives, assumptions, and risks, then returns:
- Missing alternatives, options you didn't consider
- Challenged assumptions, things that might not be true
- Unidentified risks, what could go wrong
- Overall assessment, a 1-2 sentence summary
When to use it: Before committing to irreversible decisions. Especially useful for financial commitments, team changes, and product direction shifts.
Limits: 50 AI decision reviews per month.
AI Weekly Summary
During the weekly review (final step), click the AI Summary button. The AI analyzes your past 7 days, ideas captured, decisions made, journal entries, and open commitments, then generates:
- Week summary, what happened in 2-3 sentences
- Top win, the biggest positive moment
- Biggest risk, what needs attention
- Suggested focus, what to prioritize next week
- Suggested intentions, 3 specific intentions for the week
Limits: 10 AI weekly summaries per month.
AI Idea Categorization
When capturing a new idea, the AI can suggest a capture type (Product Idea, Opportunity, Framework, etc.) and tags based on the title and body you've entered.
This runs automatically behind the scenes on the Pro plan. It doesn't replace your judgment, it suggests, and you can override.
Limits: 200 AI categorizations per month.
AI Founder Briefing
On the Today page, Pro users see a "Founder Briefing" button. Click it to generate a strategic analysis of your entire workspace state. The AI reads your active projects, recent ideas, decisions, commitments, journal entries, and review history, then produces:
- Executive summary, the state of your business in 3-4 sentences
- Top priority, the single most important thing to focus on today
- Blind spots, 2-3 things you might be ignoring
- Energy assessment, whether your project portfolio is sustainable
- Action items, 3 specific next actions ranked by impact
When to use it: Start of the week, before a strategic planning session, or when you feel stuck and need a fresh perspective. It's like having a chief of staff who knows your entire operating history.
Limits: 30 AI briefings per month.
AI Idea Expansion
On any idea detail page in the Vault, click the AI Expand button. The AI takes your raw capture (even a single sentence) and expands it into a full opportunity brief:
- Problem, what this solves
- Target user, who it's for
- Value proposition, why someone would pay
- MVP scope, the smallest version shippable in 1-2 weeks
- Risks, key concerns
- Competitor context, what already exists
- First step, the single most important next action
When to use it: After capturing a raw idea that feels promising but hasn't been fleshed out. The expansion gives you enough structure to triage it properly.
Limits: 100 AI expansions per month.
AI Decision Prep
On the New Decision form, click AI Decision Prep (enter a title first). The AI analyzes your decision title, any context you've provided, your active projects, and your recent decision history, then suggests:
- Alternatives, options you should consider before deciding
- Assumptions, things you should validate first
- Risks, concerns to factor in
- Related decisions, past decisions that might inform this one
- Falsification condition, what would prove this decision wrong
- Framing question, a powerful question that reframes the decision
When to use it: Before committing to a significant decision. The prep helps you think more broadly before you narrow down.
Limits: 50 AI decision preps per month.
AI Pattern Detection
On the Today page, click Pattern Detection. The AI analyzes your last 60 days of workspace data, decisions, ideas, commitments, projects, and weekly reviews, and identifies patterns you can't see yourself:
- Decision patterns, are you reversing decisions? Making the same type of decision repeatedly?
- Execution patterns, commitment completion rate, project momentum
- Idea patterns, capture velocity vs triage velocity
- Energy patterns, portfolio balance trends
- Behavioral patterns, review consistency, journal habits
Each pattern is rated by severity (insight, warning, or critical) and includes specific evidence from your data.
When to use it: Monthly or quarterly. This is the "zoom out and see the big picture" tool.
Limits: 10 AI pattern detections per month.
